New prospective members please follow the below steps to make contact with our representatives in regards to the requirements for joining the club. On the contact page are the phone numbers of the clubs executives, but your best person to contact is Peter Steers on 0474891612 , Regarding training courses, he asks that you communicate by text. If you wish to go to the range at scheduled shoots, Peter is the person to call. Please do not use the contact email form for new membership or range use issues, call the persons aforementioned.

- Contact any of the executive members listed on the programs contact page or
- Present yourself at the range and introduce yourself to the nominated range officer on the day. You will need photo ID, closed footwear, eye and ear protection, and small denomination cash for the range fees or gun use. Please download and print, and complete our SSAA-2024-membership form.
- Steps to take to getting your RIFLE/SHOTGUN license.
- Join SSAA Qld via hard copy, online application, or go into Hunting and Shooting Whitsundays, Proserpine. If you wish to shoot long arms only get a Property Owner to give permission to shoot on their property, they must fill out the necessary form and provide a copy of their rate notice verifying the property details. - Complete a Firearm Safety course with a category A/B Module for rifle & shotgun.
- Apply for you license after you have all your paperwork compiled, copy all paperwork. (Firearm License QPS)
- When you are licensed you can apply for a permit to acquire to purchase a firearm.

Steps to take to getting your PISTOL license.
- Join SSAA Qld, via hard copy, at the Proserpine gunstore, or online application. (members.ssaaqld.org.au)
- Fill in an Application for statement of eligibility (QP 515 form) to join an approved pistol shooting club and lodge at a Police Station, or see step 3.
- If you are a holder of a A/B firearms license omit step 2.
- Join the SSAA Bowen Branch when either of the above steps are completed. It is a Weapons Licensing requirement to be financial at all times. This can be done at the range or the Proserpine Gun store.
- Hold membership in both SSAA Qld and SSAA Bowen Branch for a minimum of 6 months after you have received you’re A/B license or QP515 form back.
- Participate in a minimum of 3 shoots in the 6 months after you received your QP515.
- Complete a Fire Arms safety course with a Cat H module within 12 months.
- Obtain a letter from SSAA Bowen Branch prior to submitting your application to Qld Police.
- After obtaining your license you can apply for a firearm. You will need a pistol acquisition form from the club to buy a handgun. In your 1st year, you can only apply for 1 class A. Air pistol and 1 of the other classes. Cat B 38cal<. Cat C 38> 45cal<. Cat D 22 cal.
- On receiving your firearm you must attend the range at least 6 times for 1 class, if you own more than 1 class of firearm you must shoot at least 4 times per class.
